Latest Trend in Composite Decking
February 16, 2017
From the beginning of 2016, most of Fiberon composite decking boards produced will be of the capped variety. The earlier range of non-capped boards will be gradually phased out. The uncapped composite board is still a better alternative to wood as it does not need preservation like wood does and looks good all year round, however, capped board offers the best in composite decking.
What is Capped Composite Decking?
In capped composite board, there is an engineered polymer skin that is applied to the board forming a highly protective shell. This protects the board from stain and fade completely. So confident is the manufacturer with the capping that a stain and fade resistance warranty is offered with capped boards, up to 25 years.
It is worth mentioning here that this 3rd generation composite board is a natural progression from the hollow composite board, to the solid uncapped board to now solid capped board with up to 25 years stain and fade and performance warranty.
